First let me say that I have purchased basically the same thing previously at stores like Target, etc. I already knew that my cats liked them and used them to lay on, scratch, etc, and this held to be true for these as well. So based on how much they like these I would give it five stars. *However*, they are SOOOO messy! Some of the other reviewers were stating how durable they were that I was hoping they held up much better than my store bought ones. They are basically nothing more than compressed cardboard. When the cats use them to sharpen their claws they are ripped to little tiny bits of paper that then end up all over the carpet, or stick to the cats’ fur and drop off in another room. Just know that if you get this and your cat has claws, you may very well end up having to vacuum on a daily basis ~ yes, they are that messy.
All that being said, I DO recommend this, because having something to scratch and dull down those claws is so important. But, if you’re having company and need the house clean, do yourself a favor and put this away a day or two ahead of time to keep the house cleaner. (It took me a while to figure that one out. lol)

We’ve a variety of scratch boards. We’d rather they wore their claws down on the tighter corrugations of other boards but 2 out of 2 cats prefer this scratch board! So a little more cleaning required but worth it to see the little ones go.

Purchased this Scratcher because of how stylish it looked and because it also matches our décor of black and white. Having 4 kittens I wanted to train them to use the scratcher as early as possible before they decided that my furniture is their scratching post and it is a good thing that I did that. Now that they are 13 weeks old they use all their scratch pads and posts that I purchased for them when they were 6 weeks old, thank goodness!
Having had this item for several weeks and with daily use, I will say it has held up very well. The price may be inexpensive but the product is not. They use this scratch pad several times a day and I have 4 kittens. If they do try to scratch the dining rooms chairs I just slide the scratch pad right next to them, place their paws on it and they scratch this instead and are off to playing. They are not into catnip yet but they are attracted to everything so I did not need to use the catnip that came with this item.
I love how you can turn this scratch pad over if and when it wears down, this way they have more to scratch on. The design is just lovely, it looks like a cute bed with animal stripes. They do enjoy scratching it, playing on it and sleeping on it. So, they do get many uses out of it!
Great item! Glad I purchased it and will be purchasing more in the future! Great item for all cat/kitten owners for sure!

I have a seven pound ball of fury names Azrael. Azrael’s sole purpose in life is to destroy whatever toys or scratching posts I bring home for her. Azrael is about 15 months old. In Azrael’s short 15 months, she has destroyed three scratching posts.
Now keep in mind that I don’t just keep one scratching post in the house. To the contrary, I have at least one in every room of the house (I just counted nine in my head, but that may be off). My strategy for dealing with adolescent cats/kittens is to place a scratching post or pad in any place that I see them scratching up something I don’t want them to scratch up. That strategy, along with a deterrent spray, will work after a while.
I have another cat named Lucky who is far more gentle. He also has much larger claws. With opposable thumbs. When he reaches out his claws, it reminds me of that claw game where you can get a free hat. While he is very, very good at keeping his claws retracted, he sometimes needs to exercise them. Therefore, he also does a number on the scratching posts and pads that I bring home even if he uses them far less often.
I like these scratching pads because they are inexpensive, and that makes them extremely replaceable when my cats inevitably destroy them. They are also surprisingly durable. The original one I bout about three years ago is still in my home, though I think it’s days are now numbered. I see Azrael on it all the time. The problem is that, after three years of use, a small hole has developed. I decided that the hole posed an injury risk to a cat walking on it, so it needed to be replaced. I bought two more.
The positives far outweigh the negatives here. Since I’ve already outlined the positive, I’ll mention the negatives as well.
The corrugated cardboard is not a barrier of any kind. In other words, if you sprinkle catnip on it, the catnip will fall right through to the floor. I found that when I do this, my cats will try to move the pad out of the way to get at the catnip. I personally don’t even understand why they even include catnip. If you have cats, you should probably have some catnip somewhere in the house as well.
This also makes a bit of a mess because the small pieces that the cats claw off when they are sharpening their claws fall through to the floor as well.
I now have four of these (one of which is going in the trash due to its three years of abuse). I use them specifically in rooms and areas that don’t have carpet. That makes the mess easy to clean up. For the rooms with carpet, I opt for a different option. I have two remaining scratching pads in my home that I will probably replace with these once they wear out.

One of the best and most used pet products ever! Big problem with our female Dusty clawing the loop pile carpet on the stairs. Ordered this in desperation not holding out much hope to be honest! It didn’t seem very substantial when it arrived but I persevered as I had read the other reviews. Ignored it at first but every time Dusty started to scratch the carpet I picked her up and made her claws scratch this instead. She loved it as soon as I added the catnip and gave her a treat! She loves it – plays on it, sleeps on it and scratches it to pieces! When one side couldn’t take any more clawing I turned it over and she happily uses the other side! It is true that it can be messy with the catnip and cardboard pieces but I just vacuum it up every day, small effort for a scratch free house! Just about to purchase my second one and all my friends are now trying it out on their cats. I would say it lasts Dusty about three months so well worth the money spent 👍

This Catit Style Scratcher with Catnip is such a deal and my cats went for it immediately.
I have 6 cats and we use these corrugated cardboard scratchers to keep them from scratching the furniture. When I saw the price of this one, I was skeptical because they are usually much more expensive but I ordered 2 anyway. I was very impressed when they arrived. It is a lounger style although a very large cat will hang off since it’s only 19 1/2″ long and not super wide. It also comes with a small packet of catnip. You sprinkle the catnip onto the scratcher to entice your cat and it does work. My cats took to it immediately. You can also turn it over when your cat destroys one side so you really get twice the use.
Yes, some the catnip will fall through the scratcher onto the floor and yes, you may have to sweep it up if your cat doesn’t roll around in it and eat it but it really doesn’t seem like a problem to me. You will also have to sweep up tiny bits of cardboard as the scratch away on it. It’s still better than having my cats scratch up my couch or chair.
We go through these frequently with 6 cats so I am thrilled to find this brand. At only about $7 each, they are a bargain.

Personally I am not allowed to use the Catit board as my cat will not share it. I have purchased scratch boards for her previously, round ones with toys, poles & ramped but nothing has appealed to her like this
