I came across this Hidrosil cat door as we really needed to update our current 25 yr old door. This Hidrosil door was able to work for exterior walls and had other features we were looking for. A clear door flap,and double door look options. Able to lock to only open one way or other and fully lock both ways or leave both directions fully open. Very handy . The kit comes with both inside and outside frames made of plastic. Door flap is clear plastic with 1/4 in or so of fluffy seal around it, installation screws and a template to sid in cutting the proper size hole,also instructions. Our existing hole was almost right size and we already had blocking installed in wall so just some trimming was needed for us and moved side blocking back a bit into wall cavity to let door swing nice and free. We used a oscillating tool but utility knife would worked to cut drywall. The inside door frame has a inner lip about 2 in deep.not enough to seal off wall cavity if used to go outside so suggest you block the entire cavity “tunnel” area off some how. Just to be safe. The door flap has a magnet setup along bottom edge to keep door somewhat in place so its not swinging free all time from wind etc. Our install went smooth. Door swings nice and free ,cats can see through it, its not perfect weather tight but will keep alot cold air flow down. Not sure how one could make it totally seal as it has to open both ways easy.
It been 30 min and they already brave enough to go in and out to cat pen. Overall we very happy, nice quality,nice looking works great, should last long time. Was perfect choice for us.

This is great quality. It’s excellent they provided the ability to use on various thicknesses. There are magnets built in to ensure the door comes to a complete close.
We’re going to attach it to a piece of wood and stick it into a window where they are already able to climb in and out of with ease. Now they can come as they please! No more opening and closing doors and waiting for their spoiled behinds to decide to waltz in at their leisure.
Bonus points that you can control which way the door goes. So, I can let my cat out with the option of keeping one inside while allowing the other to come back when he needs to

Small cat door and would do best for a inside spot.. has alot of gaps for the door itself to put for indoor outdoor due to lots of drafty spots around the door itself even with the brush around it . If you have a large cat you may want to consider a larger door! This would be great for indoor doors or walls and small to medium cats. The locks do lock tight which I wonderful!

I ordered this for our door that leads to our basement. My silly himilayan cat has an issue with closed doors. She needs nothing in the basement, but if you close the door, she’ll run from any room in the house to sit in front of the door and shout until we open it. It’s really quite annoying. lol We ordered this cat door to stop this insanity!! We were worried because it lead to the stairs going down that she may tumble down, but nope! She goes through just as she would if the door were open. The fact that this door is black is perfect as all of our interior doors are black. It’s extremely easy to install and very good quality. We always try them without the door flap first and then add it later once she’s comfortable with the new cat door. We like the quality of this one better that the previous one we bought for the laundry room door where her litter box and food are. (our greedy pug eats her food if we leave the door open) Absolutely recommend this cat door!!!

This cat door works really well overall and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The collar sensor is a nice feature and helps keep other animals out, which was a big plus for us. It feels sturdy and the size is perfect for my cat. Installation wasn’t too bad, though it did take a little patience. The only downside is that the flap can be a bit stiff at first and took some time for my cat to get fully comfortable using it. Once he figured it out though, it’s been great. The packaging is extremely nice. I have purchased a lot of cat doors in my years, but this one came in an very impressive box. Not one of those kind you pick up at most stores in a flat box. This cane ub a re-closable box and the contends are in a customized zip lock bag. Everything if high end by what I am use to buying. I really love everything about the presentation of this product. This door looks great. I love it has a nice look, a wide opening, and has a lock. This allows us to keep cat box and food in the laundry room away from our dogs and easier clean up. I also love there is a lock to keep them from going in the house if needed for separation. I used this door for the opening I cut into an old dining room buffet. I put the litter box inside of it. Before I had a clear plastic PVC flap I made. This is more attractive.
Installation was overall, pretty easy. Considering I didn’t use it for the traditional wall or door opening, I’d say that it was pretty easy. I had to fiddle a little, but ultimately it worked.
One complaint is that it comes with screw hole covers, which is a great feature, but they fall out. I’ll need to put some glue in them to keep them in.
Also, there was an insert with the directions in the box. It showed this door in multiple colors. However, I could not find any other color options on Amazon other than the black. It would have been nice to have the other colors available on Amazon as I think the brown would have looked better for my application.
Other than that, I’m pretty pleased with the end result.

It worked great for about a week. Once my cat got brave enough to use the pet door, things went great. Didn’t last long. Now, if the door doesn’t slam shut hard enough, it locks the cat into the garage. It’s that happens about 50% of the time, now. Also, when that happens, stray cats can enter the garage! So now, my cat has to potty in the garage because he can’t get out and stray cats are coming in and spraying in my garage! So disappointed.

My daughter prefers to sleep with her door closed, which our cats don’t appreciate, so I ordered this pet door. Installation was fairly straightforward. It includes a helpful template for marking the cut lines and pre-drilling the holes. I removed the door from its hinges and used a jigsaw to cut the opening. Since the door is hollow core and I’m not very experienced with a jigsaw, I did end up with a small crack along one edge, but it’s barely noticeable.
The only part I found a bit tricky was getting the screws to pass through both sides of the door and line up properly with the back of the pet door. Once the door was back on its hinges, I needed a second person to help hold the screws in place while I lined everything up.
Overall, we’re very happy with this pet door. It has a magnet that helps it sit straight and closed when not in use. Our cats have already used it several times, though it’s still new so there was a bit of hesitation at first. One of our cats weighs about 13 lbs and the other about 15 lbs, and both fit through comfortably with no issues. I would definitely recommend this pet door.

So first off, immediately upon opening my cat absolutely loved….. the box it came in. But cat’s are going to cat, and that’s one of the reasons this door is so nice. It has two (four) locking options, either lock it so they can only go out, only come in, make the door solid, or let it swing either way.
It has two magnets that hold the door in the closed position against wind, or just to help it close properly (and help gravity) after the cat has went in or out. It is not perfect however, and sometimes it remains open during our testing. In our case it is for an interior wall from within a shop, so we are not as worried about the wind, but I had considered putting it on an exterior entry point and decided against it for this point. We have some other older cat doors that have two doors in them, so when it goes one way, both open, and when it goes the other, only the inside one does. The “advantage” of this style is that they can use a spring to hold it closed in either direction, instead of relying on magnets and gravity.

This is great quality. It’s excellent they provided the ability to use on various thicknesses. There are magnets built in to ensure the door comes to a complete close.
We’re going to attach it to a piece of wood and stick it into a window where they are already able to climb in and out of with ease. Now they can come as they please! No more opening and closing doors and waiting for their spoiled behinds to decide to waltz in at their leisure.
Bonus points that you can control which way the door goes. So, I can let my cat out with the option of keeping one inside while allowing the other to come back when he needs to

I also love there is a lock to keep them from going in the house if needed for separation. It was easy to install, it was a little tricky because we have an exterior door and not an interior so it took some work but we got it and it looks great and the cats learned it quickly.

I ordered this for our door that leads to our basement. My silly himilayan cat has an issue with closed doors. She needs nothing in the basement, but if you close the door, she’ll run from any room in the house to sit in front of the door and shout until we open it. It’s really quite annoying. lol We ordered this cat door to stop this insanity!! We were worried because it lead to the stairs going down that she may tumble down, but nope! She goes through just as she would if the door were open. The fact that this door is black is perfect as all of our interior doors are black. It’s extremely easy to install and very good quality. We always try them without the door flap first and then add it later once she’s comfortable with the new cat door. We like the quality of this one better that the previous one we bought for the laundry room door where her litter box and food are. (our greedy pug eats her food if we leave the door open) Absolutely recommend this cat door!!!

Door flap is clear plastic with 1/4 in or so of fluffy seal around it, installation screws and a template to sid in cutting the proper size hole,also instructions. Our existing hole was almost right size and we already had blocking installed in wall so just some trimming was needed for us and moved side blocking back a bit into wall cavity to let door swing nice and free. We used a oscillating tool but utility knife would worked to cut drywall. The inside door frame has a inner lip about 2 in deep.not enough to seal off wall cavity if used to go outside so suggest you block the entire cavity “tunnel” area off some how. Just to be safe. The door flap has a magnet setup along bottom edge to keep door somewhat in place so its not swinging free all time from wind etc. Our install went smooth. The packaging is extremely nice. I have purchased a lot of cat doors in my years, but this one came in an very impressive box. Not one of those kind you pick up at most stores in a flat box. This cane ub a re-closable box and the contends are in a customized zip lock bag. Everything if high end by what I am use to buying. I really love everything about the presentation of this product. So first off, immediately upon opening my cat absolutely loved….. the box it came in. But cat’s are going to cat, and that’s one of the reasons this door is so nice. It has two (four) locking options, either lock it so they can only go out, only come in, make the door solid, or let it swing either way.
It has two magnets that hold the door in the closed position against wind, or just to help it close properly (and help gravity) after the cat has went in or out. It is not perfect however, and sometimes it remains open during our testing. In our case it is for an interior wall from within a shop, so we are not as worried about the wind, but I had considered putting it on an exterior entry point and decided against it for this point. We have some other older cat doors that have two doors in them, so when it goes one way, both open, and when it goes the other, only the inside one does. Pain to install, magnet too weak for small dog. There are no guides for screws so it took a good 15 or 20 min to get them lined up, and the magnet was so weak that when on my dogs collar it wouldn’t activate from 3 inches away. She’d press her head up against the door and it wasn’t close enough.

My cat pushes the door open when her paw before she goes through it. The magnet doesn’t work unless your cat pushes the door open with their head. The magnet collars aren’t break away and the magnet hangs down like an inch and a half. I tried to put it on a break away collar and get ride of the large ring but that also made the magnet not work. The magnet needs to pass directly over the entry way and it pulls the cats head down when they walk by. The door is hard for my cat to open the other way. Definitely disappointed. I’m keeping it and just taking the magnet out. That’s cheaper than buying a new door.

This is a nice cat door. I received it in black, and installed it in an inside door for my senior cat to have access to extra space to herself. It locks well and is secure for outdoor or thicker doors. I did not receive the collars with the “keys” but those aren’t necessary for my use. It fits my average size, 12-13 pound cat. It fit her when she was a few pounds heavier before her illness. Larger cats could probably squeeze through, though – cats are good at that. It does smudge so I recommend wiping it down regularly. You can also put some window film on it for privacy. The stencil to cut into the door was useful, but installing was a little difficult; you may need sone assistance especially if you are not patient. I don’t think it is worth its current price at 54.99, but I’m not sure what a better price would be for this product.

Last summer, thanks to my cat continually flying through his cat door, he eventually ripped my screen. With this cat door mounted on my wood front door, he won’t be able to damage that! I finally got a cat door for our basement door, and it’s been a game-changer. Our Garfield sized cat can be relentless when doors are closed, so giving him his own little portal has saved my sanity. Installation was straightforward with the template and instructions provided. The frame feels solid, the flap swings easily, and even our cautious cats took to it immediately.

So first off, immediately upon opening my cat absolutely loved….. the box it came in. But cat’s are going to cat, and that’s one of the reasons this door is so nice. It has two (four) locking options, either lock it so they can only go out, only come in, make the door solid, or let it swing either way.
It has two magnets that hold the door in the closed position against wind, or just to help it close properly (and help gravity) after the cat has went in or out. It is not perfect however, and sometimes it remains open during our testing. In our case it is for an interior wall from within a shop, so we are not as worried about the wind, but I had considered putting it on an exterior entry point and decided against it for this point. We have some other older cat doors that have two doors in them, so when it goes one way, both open, and when it goes the other, only the inside one does. The “advantage” of this style is that they can use a spring to hold it closed in either direction, instead of relying on magnets and gravity.
