Puppy approved!
I was looking for a lick mat, sensory mat for my dog to keep him busy and help him get more tired since it’s winter and he can’t be outside for long periods of time.
Stainless steel is nice since it’s easier to clean and more durable.
Comes with a spatula which I used to smear some peanut butter for him. It lasted a good while and I imagine if you froze the tray after spreading wet food or pb it would take even longer.

We have other licky mats made of silicone and they work well for one dog, but our puppy is a chewer and they didn’t stand a chance with her. We do like that they keep the dogs busy for a while, so we wanted a more durable option.
This metal lick mat is a great solution. It feels solid and well made, and our puppy hasn’t been able to damage it. It suctioned well during use and stayed in place. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to clean compared to silicone. Food doesn’t get stuck in the grooves and it rinses off quickly.
It also includes hardware to hang on a crate, but we just use it on the floor. The only downside is that it doesn’t keep her busy for as long as the silicone mats, but she clearly enjoys it and goes right to it. Plus we know she can’t bite pieces off and eat them so she’s safer and we can relax.
Overall, this is an excellent option for dogs that chew, especially if you want something durable, hygienic, and low-maintenance to rotate with other enrichment toys.

We foster dogs, and lick mats are a game-changer for the underweight ones who tend to inhale their food and make themselves sick. The problem is, most are made of silicone, which they quickly chew through. These stainless steel mats are virtually indestructible and just as effective at slowing down mealtime. The suction cups on the back stick securely to any hard surface, like the kitchen floor or the side of the tub, and they even come with attachments for use in a crate or kennel. For full meals, they’re best suited for small to medium dogs because it only fits about 1/3 of a can of wet food, but for distractions—like during bath time—the size works perfectly for any breed. They clean up well in the dishwasher.

I was so excited to try out this stainless steel lick mat! I actually loved this mat so much that I ordered a second one so I can have one for each of my dogs. My two large GSDs are tough chewers and most of the lick mats that I have seen are silicone and not durable enough for my dogs. These plates are heavy duty and resistant to my dogs chewing. I fill these plates with greek yogurt, pumpkin puree, peanut butter and sometimes bone broth. I pop them in the freezer and the stainless helps the food freeze fast! My girls love these plates as an afternoon treat. They stay nice and cold, fresh out of the freezer, to extend their treat lick time. I always put these in the dishwasher for easy cleanup. The mat includes mounting hardware for use in a crate but I don’t use this mat in a crate. The suction cups on the bottom of the mat are pretty strong. I normally suction these mats to my tile floor and they hold pretty still although since my dogs are so big and strong they do move the plates around. I think this plate is a good value considering the heavy stainless material and it’s comparable in price to similar products. Overall, I have zero complaints with this mat! 10/10 recommended for durability, ease of cleanup, and keeping the food cold from the freezer!

This is my favorite lick mat that I have purchased for my puppy. She has a round one that also attaches to her cage but is plastic. The stainless steel is so much more sanitary and it stops her from biting so much on the nubs and tips of the mat. I’ve used pumpkin and peanut butter, but I regularly use it for just her kibble as well. 10/10

My cat Beethoven does not know what it means to eat at a normal pace, so I must feed him a soft food on a lick mat so he keeps his food down.
~This lick mat has three different patterns for the pet to experience a variety of “touch” sensations to the tongue. Not sure what to call it. But it isn’t the same all over.
~The mat is made of stainless steel which is a plus as I know it will last for a long time. There is also included a small spatula to spread the food around the plate.
~The bottom of the mat has suction cups all over so that 1. It will not move across the floor when in use and 2. It can be placed on a wall for a different position for the furbaby. Just a way to break up the boredom.
~There are included with the mat a couple of plastic covered “bolts” that will go through the plate on each side and can then be attached to the wall of a crate.
~The nuts for the bolts are metal as well as the bolts themselves are metal. This will hold up much better than plastic nuts and bolts.
~The price is average with other mat of this type.
~Because this is a stainless-steel mat, I definitely recommend it.

I’ve been using lick mats for a while now and have just recently discovered the stainless steel version, which I prefer WAY MORE than the silicone versions. First of all, one of my dogs always chews through the silicon ones. Also, the food gets stuck in all of the nooks and crannies and my dogs aren’t able to get it all out, leaving a mess for me to have to clean up. So, the stainless steel ones that are chew proof and much easier to clean not only because the dogs can get all the food, but also because it’s far less prone to bacterial build up especially if cleaned after every use. The really COOL thing about this one is that it has mounting hardware for the inside of your pet’s crate or other area. So, if you want to freeze a meal and then put it in your pet’s crate, you have that option — even if your pet’s crate has poles because you could always use zip ties instead of the included mounting hardware. Really nice product. 4 paws up!

I ordered this lick mat for my Belgian Malinois, and if you know the breed, you know they consider “indestructible” more of a suggestion than a rule. Every silicone lick mat we’ve owned has eventually been chewed, ripped, or turned into modern art. This one has survived without a single mark, which already makes it a win in my book.
The stainless steel feels very solid and high quality. It doesn’t hold onto smells, and it’s so much easier to clean than silicone. Being able to throw it straight into the dishwasher is a huge bonus and saves a lot of time and frustration.
The suction cups work well on smooth surfaces, and I really like that it can be mounted to her crate. That makes it perfect for crate time, grooming, or giving her something calming to focus on. The different textured sections are great for spreading peanut butter, yogurt, or wet food and actually keep her busy longer.
Overall, this is extremely well made, practical, and clearly designed for dogs that are rough on their stuff. If you have a power chewer or a high-drive dog, this is absolutely worth it.

Stainless Steel Lick Mat for Dogs & Cats, Dog Lick Mat with Suction Cups & Crate Mount, Chew-Proof Slow Feeder with 3 Textured Zones for Calm Feeding & Anxiety Relief [1Pack]
This lick mat is heavy duty stainless steel. It has quite a bit of heft to it. It is thick and should hold up to even a large dog’s teeth over time. There are 46 small suction cups total on the underside. They are around the outside edge and through the middle in both directions. I believe this contributes to its ability to stay attached to the floor. My walls are not smooth, so for me it doesn’t work there. While the instructions that are included do not mention hanging it in the crate, a look at the images online show how to hang it using the washers and screws included in the box. This information should be in the instructions. The mat is dishwasher safe on the top rack, which makes it easy to clean. A spatula is included for use with things like peanut butter. My dog loved trying it out and it worked well. Especially after having gone through two of these in silicone version already.

I mostly really like this stainless steel lick mat. My dogs don’t have issues chewing the silicone ones, but it’s nice to have a steel option that’s sturdier. My one issue is stickability. I had problems getting it to stay put on wood and tile floors. If you’re using the included hardware to bolt it to the side of a crate you won’t worry about that but since I use my lick mats on the ground it’s an annoyance. But it’s super easy to just toss in the dishwasher or even hand wash and I do like that it isn’t porous and doesn’t hold onto food particles like some mats do. I do think $24.99 is a bit high for this item. It’s a nice quality but I don’t think it’s quite worth the price. Overall I would recommend it, particularly if your dog has issues chewing the silicone mats.
